A series of glazed pottery figures were unearthed in 1978 from Mr. and Mrs. Li Bin’s tomb, dating to the Northern Song dynasty, located in Liyang, Jiangsu. Some of these figures such as the Five Plan?et Gods, the Twenty Eight Lunar Mansions, the Gongcao Official, the Perfect Warrior (Zhenwu), the Lishi Of?ficial, and the Vajra seemed to have features similar to the ones described in Da Han Yuan Ling Mi Zang Jing. This tomb carries a strong style of Taoist burial customs. The burial objects are in line with the rules stated in Da Han Yuan Ling Mi Zang Jing. The epitaph reveals the genealogy of Li Yang’s Li family active in the Northern Song dynasty. The tomb provides valuable material data for the study of the social life, reli?gious connections, burial customs, and the local history of Li Yang in the Northern Song time.
