Adornoian essay is apparently different from academically accepted papers,and is famous for its untranslatability in English world.This untranslatability has a close relationship with the obscurity of their topics and with Adorno's unique style.Moreover,it also has something to do with the differences between English culture dominated by empiricism and German culture emphasizing speculation. Adorno's ideas about essay are obviously influenced by Arnold Schnberg,Georg Lukács and Walter Benjamin.According to Adorno,essays should take Benjamin's idea of'constellation'as model and have the feature of Schnberg's'atonal music.'As an excellent genre of criticism and the best representation of'non-identical philosophy,'essays deny'philosophical perspectivism'while upholding'immanent criticism.'
