The DABS-Cl(4-dimethylaminoazobenzene-4'-sulf-onyl chloride)is a sort of chromophoric labelling reagent em-ployed for labelling of amino acids,polypeptides,and pro-teins.With the DABS-Cl precolumn derivatization techni-que,the above mentioned compounds are easily separated byhigh performance liquid chromatography,and then deter-mined spectrophotometrically at 436nm at the picomole(10^(-12)mol)level.The DABS derivatives are highly stable,the derivatization procedure is relatively simple and fairlyrapid,the whole procedure takes less than one hour.
