摘要 超氧化物歧化酶(Superoxide Dismutase, ECI.15.1.1,简称SOD)广泛存在于各种生物体内,能催化体内超氧基发生歧化反应: Superoxide dismutase (SOD) is an enzyme which can dismutate the superoxide free radical O^-2 generated in oxidation-reduction reaction to O^-2 and H_2O_2, whereby O^-2 can be detoxicated. Studies of SOD might be of importance to understand the pathogenesis of some human diseases, such as tumors, autoimmune diseases, & radial diseases. A number of methods for estimating SOD activity, have been reported so far, but most of them usally require special equipment & reagents which are either costly or not easily available. The method of autoxidation of pyrogallol was widely used and is simplified by the authors, in which, both EDTA—Na2 and a hazardous chemical—sodium cacodylate are no more needed, nor is the repeated washing of RBC necessary. Altogether whole blood specimens from healthy college students were tested for SOD activity the results using the simplified method were quite agreeable to those using the original one, therefore quite suitable for clinical laboratory analysis.
