There is a small groundwater recharge in depth in Yanchen urban district so that it belongs to water consuming type. The overpumping of groundwater, especially shallow groundwater and organic pollution of shallow groundwater by industrial and agricultural production and resident lift, have deteriorated the hydrogeological environment and caused many geological problems in urban district. They include that the cones of depression of groundwater in depth have been gradually occurred and enlarged; the resident drinking water has been polluted through a aerated and seepage zone in urban district; and the ground subsidence occurred in the northern and northwestern Yanchen city. The direct reason caused geological problems can be considered as longtime groundwater overpumping. Then, it is important to reasonably exploit groundwater resources, protect the environment of water source areas and carry out artificial groundwater recharge to control ground subsidence. Also, the groundwater resources should be mainly used for the resident lift and the surface water for industrial and agricultural uses.
