鲍鱼体内DHA(C2 2∶6n 3 )含量极少或痕量。 This review investigates advance in nutritional physiology of essential fatty acids (EFAs) for abalone. Some previous studies showed that the EFAs in abalone include linoleic acid (C18∶2n-6), linolenic acid (C18∶3n-3), arachidonic acid (C20∶4n-6) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). However, these EFAs play different roles in different abalone species. The EFA composition in abalone varies with development stage and variation in diets. There is little or no docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in abalone, which suggests that its EFAs requirement is different from other species. The C20∶5n-3 plays an important role in growth, feed conversion efficiency and reproduction. The C20∶4n-6 level in abalone is relatively higher. The C20∶4n-6 and EPA have synergic effects on nutritional physiology. The effect of C20∶4n-6 on the physiology and chemistry in abalone has become a focus in recent years.
