n this paper, the catalytic performance of heteropoly acid (HPA)such as H3PMo12O40 (PMo12), H3PW12O40 (PW12) and H4SiW12O40 (SiW12)was studied by the etherification of diethylene glycol with ethanol. PW12and SiW12 revealed high activity for the etherification reaction, the conversion of diethylene glycol was 97.5% and 93.8%, respectively, theactivity of PMo12 was lower than PW12 and SiW12 and the conversion wasonly 45.3%. After calcination treatment at 350-500℃ for 3 h, the activity and selectivity for diethylene glycol diethyl ether and diethyleneglycol monoethyl ether decreased with the increase of calcination temperature for all three HPA catalysts, but the selectivity for dioxane increased.
