It is shown by the assaying of the carbon isotope from the marine Cambrian and Ordovician carbonate samples that there were six periods when the negative fluctuation peaks made their appearance, i. e. early Early Cambrian, late Early Cambrian, late Late Cambrian, Early Ordovician Arenigian, Early Caradocian and Middle to Late Caradocian. They are all generally coincident with the global organism extinction events and regression/transgression events, suggesting that these three events had positive connections with each other. Thus, carbon isotopic assaying may be also used as an important method for the global stratigraphic correlation and division.
