摘要
本文旨在寻求一种合适的途径解决ATM交换系统中的输出冲突问题。提出一种基于Batcher-Banyan的交换结构,能为每一输出端口从输入端提供多重并行路径(路径数为16),能同时传送多个相同目的地址的信元(cell)到所要求的目的端口,从而解决了输出冲突问题。由于这些多重路径聚合于单一的交换平面上,这种方案不仅能获得可靠的性能,而且还能降低硬件需求。文中详细描述了这种交换机制的结构,并用理论分析与计算机模拟两种方法对其性能作出了评价。
The intention of the authors is to try to find a feasible approach resolving the output contention in ATM switching nodes. Based on Batcher-Banyan structure, multiple and parallel paths (in this paper the number of paths is 16) to each output port are aggregated in a single switching unit plane to transfer multiple cells addressed for the same output simultaneously.Thus, considering the entire switching unit in the architecture, this proposal can achieve promising performance for ATM switches as well as reduction of hardware requirements. We demonstrate the proposed switching infrastructure in details and evaluate its performance both in analytical way and simulation.
