A sample of parthenogenetic brine shrimp and a sample of bisexal brine shrimp obtained from the cysts of a commercial product named 'Great Wall Brand Artemia Cysts' of China have been cultured for four generations. Some interesting observations have been made.In the parthenogenetic brine shrimp all females appear in every generation, most of them are ovoviviparous, some are oviparous. In addition to 1898 females there is a single male in the sample. This unusual phenomenon has been discussed. In the bisexal brine shrimp both female and male appear in every generation about 50% males and 50% females. Also most of the females areovoviviparous, some are oviparous.Crossing experiment of the parthenogenetic females with the bisexal males shows reproductive isolation phenomenon. Their descendants are all females.Observations on their morphology are carefully made. Their external shapes are significantly different, the parthenogenetic brine shrimp has a slender abdomen but the bisexal brine shrimp has a thick and short abdomen. Their brood pouches also show different shapes at the opening of the protuberances.According to the above observations, it is considered that these brine shrimp probably belong to the two sibling species; Artemia parthenoge-netica of Tianjin and Artemia sp.
