摘要
本文以BrownLevinson礼貌理论为依据 ,以Blum&Kulka等学者的“语篇补全测试”为工具 ,调查英、汉拒绝言语行为表达模式与社会因素之间的关系。Brown&Levinson理论的面子概念 ,礼貌与直接性程度的关系 ,以及言语的社会决定因素受到东西方学者越来越多的理论质疑和实验反证 ,我们希望借此调查研究能澄清学者们对Brown_Levinson理论的质疑。在数据分析中 ,我们将每一个拒绝言语行为序列划分成三个层面 ,即中心言语行为 ,辅助言语行为和修饰语 。
This paper reports on a survey of refusals in Chinese and American English. The goal of the survey is to compare between the two languages the realization patterns of the refusing speech act. The theoretical background is Brown_Levinson's politeness theory and the studies of refusals in the literature. The methodological framework is based on Blum_Kulka et als “Discourse Completion Test”. This survey focused on the relationship between the realization patterns of refusals and social factors. This paper will just outline the theoretical framework for the survey, present the methodology, and illustrate the procedures of the analysis of the data collected from Chinese and American English.
