摘要
对于距今老于20万年的碎屑沉积物,目前还没有一种成熟可靠的测年技术。根据实验模拟、理论推测和少量实际测量表明,如果采用适当的电子自旋共振(ESR)信号中心和测量参数,ESR可以测定含石英沉积物最后一次曝光的年龄,其测年范围可望覆盖整个第四纪。因此,ESR测定第四纪沉积物具有极大的发展潜力,并已开始被研究第四纪、新构造和环境变化等方面的国内学者所接受。但是,目前给出的ESR年龄的可靠性有多大、与真实年龄之间有多大的差异等仍属未知。目前ESR测定沉积物年龄仍是一种未完全成熟的测年方法。
Laboratory experiments and detailed investigations of quartz from sediments indicate that it is, in principle, possible to date the last bleaching time of sediments. This paper gives a brief review on ESR dating of sediments. Considerable study has been directed at ESR dating of optically-bleached quartz in sediments. Quartz ESR signals have a remarkably complex response to light exposure. Good results have been obtained using the Al, E' and Ge centers. The age range of ESR dating of sediments is much longer than 2 million years. But ESR dating of sediments is still not a very reliable technique till now.
