摘要
文章提出一种新型的基于本体的数字图书馆框架ODL。它通过本体为基础的概念级支持,将传统索引和搜索方案中基于关键词的方式扩展到基于知识的方式。同时讨论了这种新型模型下的数字图书馆关键技术,包括基于本体的内容组织、基于本体的信息集成和基于Web的本体学习等。
Semantic Web is an extension of the current WWW. In the Semantic Web, information is defined explicitly with semantics so that computers may coordinate with human being more effectively. One key difference between the Web of today and the semantic Web is that the content of the semantic Web be usable and understandable by machines (i.e. software agents). The current digital library (DL) systems suffer from inadequate knowledge level support for user's information needs. In this paper, we introduce a novel framework of ontology based digital library, called ODL. By using ontology as a conceptual backbone for providing, accessing and structuring information in a comprehensive approach for building and maintaining the digital library, we extend the traditional indexing and searching schema from keyword-based to knowledge-based. The key implementation technologies of ODL systems including ontology based information organization, ontology based information integration and web-based ontology learning are also discussed.
