hinese herb medicine-Cordyceps Sinensis(CS) was
taken to treat the animal model ofchronic renal insufficiciency induced in Wistarrat by 5/6
nephrectomy.The glomeruli areawere measured using a computer image analy-sis system and
the renal histological changesof these rats were evaluated according to 7parameters
-mesangial hypercellularity, mesa-ngial sclerosis, tuft adhesion, segmental glome-rular
sclerosis, interstitial fibrosis, tubular atr-ophy and vascular lesions. The results showedthat CS
decrcased significantly the level ofBUN and Scr in experimental rats and can in-hibit the
hypertrophy of glomeruli in thoserats. The renal histological lesion of exoerime-ntal rat was
improved by treatment with CS.
