he catalytic behavior of ultra-fine amorphous Ni-B alloy catalysts for benzene hydrogenation was studied. Experimental results show that these catalysts have high activity, and with the increase of reaction pressure and the rise in reaction temperature the reaction rate is accelerated. The hydrogenation rate on Ni59.8B40.2 alloy is forty times as large as industrial catalyst Raney Ni under the same conditions. A study of the chemical kinetics shows that the benzene hydrogenation on the Ni59.8B40.2 catalyst is a first order reaction. Furthermore the activation energy of the reaction is calculated, which is 27. 0 kJ/mol. Therefore,this Ni-B alloy is a kind of high active catalyst for hydrogenation.
