摘要
本文讨论广义的习语,包含成语、谚语、歇后语、俗语、俚语、典故,比较中英两国文化体系,使中英习语在意义和表现形式上,既有相似之处,也存在着明显的差异,其中地理环境和宗教信仰对英汉习语的影响尤为明显,并着重分析英中地理环境和宗教信仰的差异及其对英汉习语的影响。
The essay offers an overview of English and Chinese idioms from their origin and meaning to causes. Special attention is given to environmental and religious factors exerting influences on creation of English and Chinese idioms.
