摘要
翻译是一种文化交流和文化传播活动。翻译过程中的一个难点就是对原文中一些富含文化信息的词汇的翻译。杨宪益夫妇译《红楼梦》和林语堂译《浮生六记》中文化词汇的翻译对比说明,归化和异化两种不同的翻译策略会导致不同的文化传播效果。异化的翻译方法更有助于对原语文化信息的传播。
Translation is an activity of cultural exchange and cuhural transmission. One of the difficuhies in this activity lies in the translation of words with rich cultural information in the original. A contrast between the translation of words with cultural information in A Dream of Red Mansions translated by Yang Xianyi and Gladys Yang and those in Six Chapters of a Floating Life translated by Lin Yutang shows that the implementation of the two different translation strategies of domestication and foreignization has a direct impact on the effect of cultural transmission. The translation strategy of foreignization is of more help in the transmission of the cultural information in the original.
