In Edible Women Duncan Appears in the image of a "boy", not a "man", a member of the fringe group and an underdog in a male-chauvinist society. Through the visual angle of the heroine, the author reveals Duncan's unique characteristics and his positive attitude toward women's emancipation and the establishment of a new relationship between men and women, thereby avoiding the trap whereby to win women's emancipation by making an enemy of all men.
