By using the neural electricity tester of NDⅠ-200,the BAEP of the students of track and field (n= 76) and ball game majors (n= 49) and that of other majors (n=50) is recorded and analyzed and then a transversal comparison is also made. Compared with the students of other majors, the peak latencies of Ⅲ ,Ⅴ and the inter peak latencies of Ⅰ -Ⅲ , Ⅰ -Ⅴ of the students of track and field major are prolonged obviously (P〈0.05),and the peak latencies of Ⅲ , Ⅳ , Ⅴ and the inter peak latencies of Ⅰ -Ⅲ , Ⅰ - Ⅴ of the students of ball game major are also prolonged obviously (P 〈 0. 05). Compared with the students of track and field major, the peak latencies of BAEP Ⅲ for students of ball game major are prolonged obviously. However, the auditory reaction time of the students of both the track and field and ball game majors is shortened obviously (P〈0.05). Therefore it is concluded that the sports of track and field and ball games can make BAEP Ⅲ,Ⅴ(PL) and Ⅰ -Ⅲ , Ⅰ -Ⅴ (IPL) prolonged obviously, which means long-term exercise of track and field and ball games can improve the information-processing ability of the superior olivary complex and make the auditory information input to the brain more accurate and clear so that the cerebral cortex can make corresponding reactions to the input auditory information timely and quickly. Moreover, the effect of ball games is more obvious than that of the sports of track and field.
