摘要
本文旨在从认知语法和系统功能语法的视角探讨英语乏词义结构及其构成要素事件名词的特征。研究表明,作为名词的边缘成员,事件名词是乏词义动词的引申并且表达了句子的主要意思。乏词义结构的主要特征有五个:体现名词化隐喻、充当实现有界化的手段、突显方式成分、向语义原型靠拢和体现成语化取向。
This paper applies theoretical insights from cognitive grammar and systematic functional grammar to an exploration of the delexical structure of English. Its analysis shows that eventive noun, one of the key elements of such structure, is an extension of the delexical verb and, despite its peripheral status as a member of nouns, actually plays a central part in the signification of the sentence concerned. The paper also identifies five major characteristics of the delexical structure, namely, its embodiment of nominalization, function as a means to achieving boundedness, tendency to render manner elements salient, approximation to semantic prototype, and facility of idiomatization.
