摘要
十八世纪英国伤感主义的杰出诗人托马斯·格雷以一首著名的《墓园挽歌》把伤感文学推向了顶峰。这首诗在文学史上具有划时代的意义。诗人在表达伤感内容的同时,在形式上又结合了古典主义的创作要求。《墓园挽歌》不仅成为那个时代,而且是今天最完美的诗篇。
The famous Elegy,Written in a Country Churchyard by Thomas Gray, the outstanding poet of English sentimentalism of the 18th century, is the perfection of the sentimental literature. This poem is a milestone in the history of English literature. While expressing the sentimental content, Gray absorbed the writing demands of classicism. Elegy, Written in a Country Churchyard, the most perfect poem of the age, belongs to this period.
