A novel method is adopted to synthesize a new type of polymeric C_(60) derivatives,in which C_(60) sites in the main chain of polystyrene. The product was characterized by several methods,The UV spectra show that the living anionic polystyrene species can react with C_(60).The GPC results proved that the mount of C_(60) do not influence the degree of the substi tution, All C_(60) is bissubstituted.The DSC results illustrate that only one glass transition temperature was observed in each case. As the weight percent of C_(60) increased in the polymer,the T_g increased from 94.4℃ (PS) to 96.9℃ (PSC1) and 97.6℃ (PSC2).The obtained polymeric C_(60) derivative is brown and brittle glass,and the intensity of brown color depends on the amount of C_(60) in combination, Polymeric C_(60) derivatives can be dissolved in a variety of solvents,such as THF, toluene, trichloromethane,and so on. Its solubility behavior is similar to polystyrene itself and totally unlike C_(60).
