摘要
左手材料是指一种介电常数ε和磁导率μ同时为负值的材料。近几年在实验上取得了突破性的进展,尤其是在2003年,被美国的科学杂志评为当年十大科技进展之一。本文介绍了左手材料的概念、原理和它具有的负群速度、负折射率、理想成像、逆Doppler频移、反常Cerenkov辐射等种种奇异的物理性质。并回顾了这一领域近年来的发展状况。
Left- handed materials, of which the dielectric constant e and the magnetic permeability μ are simultaneously negative. Key experimental advances have been obtained recently and winning a place among the 10 breakthroughs by Science in 2003. Left- handed materials have many strange properties, such as negative refractive index, negative group velocity, perfect imaging, inverse Doppler effect and abnormal Cerenkov radiation. This paper introduces the concept and basic principles of left- handed materials and reviews the developments in recent years.
