胡屠户是《儒林外史》中身处社会底层身份卑贱的小商人,是作者刻画得较为生动鲜活的形象之一,作者通过对他的描写、形象地反映了科举制度对人的价值观的扭曲,深刻揭示出促使儒林士人在科举道路上苦苦攀登、至死不悔的社会根源。
