以伊斯兰主义相号召,在广大信众中深深扎下了根是哈马斯能够在以色列武力镇压中立于不败之地的重要原因。哈马斯不仅仅是一个政治组织和武装组织,更不仅仅是少数持较为极端立场的人所组成的集团,而是成千上万由伊斯兰主义武装起来的信众的代表,体现已经联合起来、且已形成强大声势的抵抗运动。在立法委员会选举前哈马斯便已取代法塔赫,成为最受巴勒斯坦人欢迎的巴政治派别。它在立法委员会选举中获胜反映了选民对以色列的强烈不满与对巴解组织的失望。
The important reason for Hamas not to be defeated in Israeli military suppression is that it advocates the Islamism and is rooted in the mass believers. Hamas is not only a political or armed organization, nor is it only a group composed of the extremist minority, but the representative of hundreds of thousands of the believers armed with the Islamism, representing the united resistant movement of great reputation. It had become, in place of Fatah, the political party most welcomed by the Palestinian people even before the legislative election. Its victory of the legislative election reflects the electorate's strong discontentment against Israeli and their disappointment to the Palestine Liberation Organization.
