摘要
留美爱国者容闳是近代“新中国运动”的先驱,他德兼中西,与时偕行。他所倡导的派遣童赴美留学是近代中外文化交流史上“特开新纪元”的创举,成为近代中国“科教兴国”和“复兴中国”的“前驱先路”。他毕生为“改良政治”上下求索,“确信中国会有灿烂的前程”。他是中国近代史上唯一一位迎着“诛妖救世”、洋务自强、维新变法、共和革命等社会思潮全程拾级而上、与历史潮流同步的”复兴中国“志士。
Rong Hong who studied in the United States was a patriot as well as a forerunner of ＂New China Movement＂ at modern times. He had lofty moral and kept pace with the times. He advocated to send young students to study in foreign countries. This was a creation in Sino-foreign cultural exchange and a trial approach of ＂Prospering State by Means of Science and Education＂ and ＂ China Renaissance＂. He devoted all his life to political reform and believed that China would surely enjoyed a bright future. He was a solider at modern times who fought against enemies, learned from foreign countries and kept pace with the world.
