摘要
从符号学出发以萧红的散文《永远的憧憬与追求》及其两种英译文为例,研究翻译中直译和意译两种方法。通过对语言符号的所指和能指的分析,及对两个版本的译文的分析,认为翻译实践中直译和意译方法的运用是由语言的符号关系决定的。当原语和译语的符号关系相同或相似时,这时可运用直译方法进行翻译;反之则要采用意译法进行翻译。
Taking the two English versions of Xiao Hong＇s prose Yongyuandechongjingyuzhuiqiu as the example, this paper discusses the literal and free translation in the two versions with the basic knowledge of semiotics. Through the analysis of the two versions and the discussion of the relation of signifier and signified, it believes that the choice of literal or free translation depends on the relations of the language symbols. When the source language and target language have the same of similar symbolic relations, the literal translation can be adopted, and vice verse.
