The silica fume mixing into concrete can improve density of concrete, enhance impermeability of concrete, lower permeability coefficient of chloride ions and increase chloride irons" erosion - resistance of concrete because of its corpuscle filling effect, active effect of volcanic ash, effect of crystal nucei as well as rheological effect.
