Based on the data of environmental survey obtained from the Yuandang Lake of Xiamen, Fujian Province in July 2001, the concentrations and distributions of heavy metals in fishes and shrimp and crab are analyzed. The results may be summarized as follows: The contents of Cu, Pb, Cd and Zn in crap from the Yuandang Lake were much higher than those in fishes and shrimp. In addition, according to the values of Standard for Tolerance Limit of Copper Lead Cadmium and Zinc in Foods of the People's Republic of China, the pollution level of the fifteen species of aquatic organisms by heavy metals have been assessed. The results show that the concentrations of heavy metals in fishes and shrimp from the Yuandang Lake of Xiamen were below the standards, except the contents of Pb, Cd in vrab.
