The Fourth Asian Pacific Congress on Thrombosis and Haemostasis （APCTH） was held from September 21 to 23, 2006 in Suzhou, China and organized by the Asian Pacific Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis and the Chinese Society of Haematology with professor RUAN Chang-geng as the chairperson. About 640 people attended the meeting, including 400 from Chinese mainland and 200 from Taiwan （China）, Hong Kong （China）, Asian Pacific countries, the United States, Canada, Australia and Europe. More than 220 abstracts were submitted in addition to those of two plenary lecture sessions, 12 symposia, 5 special symposia, and 6 luncheon seminars, covering platelet, coagulation, hemorrhagic diseases, and thrombotic diseases. Before the meeting, on September 20, an international education seminar was arranged supported by the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis （ISTH）. The papers proffered to the congress reflect the quick development in fundamental and clinical research of thrombosis and haemostasis field in Asian Pacific region during the last two years.
