The new variation of critical temperature with the performance of lubricating oils(additives) and the speed of gear is investigated.Firstly,the experimental method and calculation for ̄mula for determining the critical temperature are presented.Secondly base on the test results ob ̄tained according to different lubricating modes and oils,the variation of critical temperature with the pitch line speed is achieved,which can be fitted into a second power polynomial expression,and it is found that the absolute value of critical temperature is strongly influenced by the performance of oils and by the type of additives.Finally the characteristics that,there is a valley point on the curves of critical temperature versus the pitch line speed of gears,is mathematically demonstrated on the basis of the theoretical calculation formula derived.
