Objective:To explore the relationship between the level of serum b^P and the degree of brain trauma. Methods:Patients admitted to the hospital from 2002 to 2004 and diagnosed as brain contusion and lacerationby CT scan were dirided into 4 groups according to traumatic degree. After 48 h of trauma, the levels of MMP-2 and MMP-9 in serum with ELISA were examined and the difference among groups was assayed. Results:The levels of MMP-2 and MMP-9 were associated closely with the degree of brain trauma. Conclusions:MMP-2 and MMP-9 are associated with the development of brain contusion and laceration. The levels of MMP-2 and MMP-9 can be indicators to exam the degree of brain contusion and laceration.
