摘要
利用PHI-590 SAM对失效的LaB_6阴极进行分析,结果表明,失效原因是碳和氧的严重侵害和镧原子相对于硼原子的不足。由于碳、氧的污染,使LaB_6表面的功函数增加,降低了阳极热电子发射能力。碳污染的可能途径为来自工作环境的汽相污染和阴极组件构成物(石墨)在使用温度下的表面扩散。
Surface studies of LaB6 cathode failure has been carried out by using scanning Auger mi-croprobe model PHI-590. Results show that the failure mechanism is related to the severe containmina-tion of carbon and oxygen penetrating deep into the bulk and the relative inadequacy of Lanthanum atoms to Boron atoms. Two possible containminatlon sources are gas phase carbides in the vacuum chamber and surface diffusion of graphite which is the constituent of LaB6 cathode module.
