摘要
本文主要采用内容分析法,以斯坦福大学(Stanford University)、密歇根大学(theU-niversity of Michigan)、匹兹堡大学(University of Pittsburgh)和佛罗里达州立大学(Florida State University)四所学校为案例,以《教师手册》(Faculty Handbook)的文本为主要研究对象,总结了美国大学对终身教职的最新界定,分析了它们在终身教职的现行政策中所广泛采用的做法,并在此基础上结合文献调研预测了终身教职的发展趋势。
This paper explores academic tenure in American universities based on case studies of Stanford University, the University of Michigan, Pittsburgh University and Florida State University through content analysis of faculty handbooks. The author first analyzes the conception of tenure, then describes the current policy of tenure and post-tenure review, and further shows the future of tenure.
