To read Lawrence' s works, we must understand his ethical idea at first. As his first novel, The White Peacock reveals the origin of his ethical idea. This paper starts with the analysis of the unreliable narrator, and so there is not a standard ethical position in the novel. Then the narration of so - called "theatrical narrator" implied a certain ethical position for readers. This certain ethical position reflects the ethical problem Lawrence focused on and his opinions on it. This is also the ethnical idea of The White Peacock.
