The thermal desorption properties of O 2 species on CuO/ZrO 2 and its influence on the catalytic performance were studied by TPD MS, TPR and TG methods. The results indicated that there were two O 2 desorption peaks, relating to surface layer CuO x and CuO phase, respectively. The surface layer CuO x is easily reduced, and leads to a dramatic increase in CO oxidation activity.
