摘要
从法国自由主义思想家贡斯当对古代人自由和现代人自由的区分,再到伯林积极自由与消极自由的著名二分法,人们似乎在此基础上能够辨析近代以来西方自由主义政治传统。然而,随着当代强势的社群主义者把尖锐的矛头指向伯林的消极自由观,并以某种过于夸张的形式把积极自由与消极自由的截然对立误解为当代社群主义——自由主义论战的实质,这在某种程度上,引起了包括哈贝马斯、尚塔尔.墨菲的警觉,随之以一种超越、调和、折衷的自由观理论予以回应。对这两种自由分与合的演进理路的考察和阐释,我们会发现深藏其中的辨证张力的伟大。
From the French liberalist Constant's "liberty of the ancients" vs. "that of moderns" to Berlin's famous dichotomy of positive liberty and negative liberty, it is possible to get an idea of the Western liberal political tradition. The attack of strong contemporary communitarianists on Berlin's negative liberty concept and their mistaking, in an exaggerated way, the antagonism between positive liberty and negative liberty as contemporary communitarianism arouse the vigilance of such thinkers including Habermas and Chantal Murphy, who respond with a transcendental, conciliatory, compromising theory of freedom. And an investigation of the evolution of two liberties in integration or separation points to the greatness of hidden dialectical tension.
