"Chien Sui Tsaug activity (a Taoist ceremony which leads water ghosts ashore to accept Pudu in the world)", the largest scale in Taiwan held at Kouhu Township, Yunlin County, possesses its unique origin and ceremonial process. Through long- term field studies, we know the activity records related catastrophe and legends, the background of deities, Feng Shui stories, epiphany and heroic stories. Through this essay, we understand the flood havoc occurred in the Western coast of Taiwan about 160 years ago. After more than a hundred years, it unexpectedly becomes a rich cultural feast at the region, an important cultural heritage. This results from the integration of folk religion and folk literature.
