Starting with an analysis of sociality and social rootstock of 'suffering', the paper discusses how the narrative of common peasants about their lives can be the history. The narrative of suffering from peasants who called themselves 'suffering people' composed importantly oral data about Chinese rural social life in the latter half of 20th century, and became significant academic resources as well as the special field of knowledge production. The sociality of 'suffering' established the organic connection between the ordinary life of common people and the macro social history, and showed the need of revealing the roots of 'suffering' from the perspective of social structure and power relationship. When we consider civilization as everyday-life practice of common people, the life history of peasants can be connected with the process of the macro social history, and their trivial stories, as organic parts of grand narrative, can be provided with extraordinary meanings. That is the process of making history from everyday life of common people.
