在后工业社会背景下长大的坎迪斯·布什奈尔深切地体会了现代人生活的荒诞和无奈,她的半自传体小说《欲望都市》以错乱零散和黑色幽默的叙事话语,反映了欲望主体在疯狂世界中精神分裂的生存状态和爱情困境中的强制解脱方式,同时也反映了20世纪90年代美国社会的工业文明和经济个人主义给人带来的悲哀。
In the nineties of the twentieth century, America developed into its prime in economy but extreme emptiness in culture. Having gTown up in the context of post-industrial society, Candace Bushnell very well understands absurdity and hopelessness of the contemporary life, her semi-autobiogTaphy novel, Sex and the City, employs the postmodern narrative strategies of disordered and fragmented discourse and that of black humor reflecting the schizophrenic existence of desiring subjects in the frenzy lifeworld, and the struggling of escape from desperations in love. The novel also reflects the sorrowful consequences of economical individualism at the time period.
