摘要
纽马克按照语言功能把文本分为三大主要类型,即表情型、信息型和感召型文本。公示语是一种具有指示、提示、警示、告示、劝导和宣传等感召功能的文本,根据纽马克的文本类型理论,应当属于感召型文本。文章指出并纠正了国内目前在这个问题上的一些认识偏差,提出公示语翻译应以译出其感召功能为首要任务,以使译文取得公示语文本的预期效果。
Peter Newmark divides texts into three chief types: expressive, informative and vocative according to language functions. As the public sign is a kind of text with such vocative functions as directing, reminding, warning, noticing, persuading and publicizing, it falls into the type of vocative texts. This distinction is of great importance to the translation of public signs. The paper points out and also attempts to straighten up some improper ideas on this issue. It also suggests that conveying the vocative function of the public sign is the essential task of the translator so as to achieve the intended effect of the public sign.
