Objective: Investigate the states of academic burnout and professional commitment and their relationship in students for Master's degree. Methods: 700 individuals were assessed with "Academic burnout Scale for students for master's degree" and "Professional Commitment Scale for students for master's degree", which are based on the "Academic burnout Scale for university students" and "Professional Commitment Scale for university students". Results: Students heading for Master's degree have a low professional commitment level, while their academic burnout level is comparatively high. In the fields of depersonalization and continuance commitment, males are better than females (P〈0.05). Individuals in grade two have the highest academic burnout level (P〈0.05) and the lowest professional commitment level (P〈0.001). Art students have the highest academic burnout level (P〈0.05) and the lowest professional commitment level (P〈0.01). Science students have the same level as the engineering majors, except in the fields of continuance commitment and general commitment (P〈0.01). In addition, birth place has significant influence only in the ideal commitment. Professional working experience has significant influence only in depersonalization. Finally, there is a significant negative correlation between academic burnout and professional commitment (P〈0.001). Conclusion: Considering the current states of academic burnout and professional commitment in students for Master's degree, much more attention should be paid to these two respects.
