The paper describes the development of U. S. next-generation meteorological satellites, including National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System（NPOESS）, Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite system and GOES-R series, introduces the concept study for national global operational environmental satellite system （NGOESS）, and finally summarizes the features of the U. S. next-generation meteorological satellites development.
