Objective To study the expression of γ - IF - induced T - cell alpha chemoattractant ( I - TAC) and macrophage- derived chemokine (MDC) in pathological scar and explore their effect in formation of pathological scar. Methods Immunohistochemical techniques were used to measure the expression and distribution of I - TAC and MDC in 24 cases of keloid (group A), 33 cases of hypertrophic scar (group B) and 15 cases of normal skin (group C), and data were analyzed statistically. Results The expression of I - TAC and MDC in groups A and B was higher than that in group C and groups A and C showed a significant difference from group C (P 〈 0.01). However, expression was not statistically different between group A and group B ( P 〉 0.05 ). Conclusion I - TAC and MDC may enhance the formation of pathological scar via homing T helper (Th) lymphocytes which would result in immunoreactions.
