摘要
索尔.贝娄(1915-2005)是继海明威、福克纳之后美国当代文坛上最伟大的美籍犹太裔小说家,贝娄是不折不扣的人文主义者,他的作品主要描写那些在现实面前找不到立足点的人,他们在理想和现实面前晃来晃去,无法找寻自我归宿,被称之为"挂起来的人",但他们始终不放弃对爱的信仰,对"永恒"的追求。贝娄的作品通过主人公对"我从哪里来,我是谁,我到哪里去"这三个对人的追问的问题的思考与追问,体现对身份的困惑,完成对永恒的终极意义的寻找。
Saul Bellow was the greatest Israel - American novelist of contemporary American literature world after Hemingway and Faulkner. He was a complete humanist. His works mainly describe those persons who can not find foothold or destination in the society but do not give up belief in love and pursuit for eternity. They emily puzzlement for identity and realize the pursuit for eternal final significance through figures＇reflections on questions such as ＂where I come, who I am and where I go＂.
