The Nanhai Ⅰis an ancient sunken vessel of Nansong dynasty, in which is fully loaded with china. In order to explore and preserve the vessel and cultural relics , an integral salvage scheme is presented, a tailor-made steel open caisson is firstly pressed into seabed clay to cover the sunken vessel; then a bottom joist is pushed throughunder the steel open caisson's bottom to enwrap the sunken vessel in total; in this way, the steel caisson containing the sunken vessel can be lifted and carried to shore. In the course of operation, a series of difficulties are encountered unexpectedly. After some improving measures are adopted, the sunken vessel is salvaged successfully. It began a new approach for underwater archaeology.
