Objective To investigate the effects of Chaiyu Decoction, ShaoganDecoction, Jinlingzi powder and Tongxie prescription on the level ofSubstance P in the stomach and hypothalamus of chronic psychological stress rats. Methods A rat model of chronic stress was made by multi - random factors tostimulaterepeatedly. Substance P in the tissusbemogenate was determined using radioimmunoassay. Results Chronic psychological stress rats had an expression of liver depression and deficiency. The level of Substance P in the stomach and hypothalamus of the model group rats were significantly lower than those in normal group. ( P 〈 0.05). 13.5g/kg Tongxie prescription could increase Substance P in the stomach and hypothalamus, and had a better effect than 4.5g/kg Tongxie prescription, and Clomipramine. ( P 〈 0. 05). 13.5g/kg Jinlingzi powder had a better effect than C lomipramine. ( P 〈 0.05). 13.5g/kg Chaiyu Decoction can increase the level of substance P in the hypothalamus, and had a better effect than 1.5 g/kg ChaiyuDecoction, ( P 〈 0.05) Conclusion The levels of substance P in the stomach and hypothalamus of the chronic psychological stress rats were decreased . Tongxie prescription can significantly increase the level of Substance P in the stomach, and Chaiyu Decoction can make a significant effect on Substance P in the hypothalamus.
