Objective To investigate the levels of plasma phosphate and the prognosis in critically ill patients. Methods After admission to intensive care units ( ICU ) , 52 critical patients accepted acute physiology and chronic health evaluation(APACHE) Ⅱ score. The levels of plasma phosphate were detected, and the time of mechanical ventilation and one - month survival rate were observed. Result The levels of plasma phosphate was significantly correlated with APACHE Ⅱ score and the time of mechanical ventilation in critical patients( P 〈 0.01 ). The levels of plasma phosphate in survival group were significantly higher than that of non - survival group( P 〈 0.05 ). There were obvious differences in APACHE Ⅱ score and the time of mechanical ventilation between survival group and non -survival group( P 〈0.05 ). Conclusions The early level of plasma phosphate has an important value in the diagnosis of its condition and prognosis in critically ill patients.
