摘要
在当代美国文坛上,索尔.贝娄是一个特例,那就是他在创作中对知识分子的生存的深切关注。他的几部重要作品,包括他最后的《拉维尔斯坦》,都无一例外地将探寻和审视的目光投向了大学的教授们,而索尔.贝娄所塑造的这几位大学教授,却为我们管窥当代美国知识分子的生存状态和本质变迁提供了最好的样本。从某种意义上说,索尔.贝娄以文学创作,印证了雅各比在《最后的知识分子》中所作的历史分析。
In contemporary American literary world, Saul Bellow was a special example for that he pays more attention to the intellectuals＇ fates and exist. Some of his important works, including the last one which was named Ravelstein, all detect and scan several university professors whom are the best samples for us to research and understand American intellectuals＇ existence and variance. In a sense, Saul Bellow confirmed Russell Jacoby＇s historical analysis in his The Last Intellectuals with his literary writings.
