The meaning of advanced manufacturing technology （AMT） is expounded. The developing status of AMT, such as networked manufacturing, micro-systems, low temperature rapid prototyping manufacturing, biological manufacturing etc. at home and abroad in the 21st century are introduced. In the end, the trends of AMT in the future is summarized.
